Well That Advertising Sucked

Unless you can teleport to just about anywhere on command like Lockjaw from the Marvel Inhumans or Pet Avengers - you missed it. The Richmond VA, SPCA teamed up via the Barber Martin Agency with Wendy's. Up until March 28, 2009 you could have purchased a Wendy's Frosty(tm) key tag and gotten a free Jr. Frosty with every purchase through 12/31/2009. Okay fine, I went into a Wendy's today, you caught me. But I noticed the sign in the store advertising the now, stale promotion. Was it me, did I miss any other advertising anywhere: TV, Radio, Billboards...? You mean to tell me, in order to have known about the promotion at a WENDY'S, you actually had to walk into the stand-alone shop. To me, that was suckalicious advertising. The SPCA should question their efforts. Wendy's should question their commitment to the effort. And well, the ad agency should be fired.

Tales of Suspense #49 - The New Iron Man Meets the Angel!

I could have posted about a lot of things today but I wasn't really sure what. So I let some Internet surfing guide me. I ran across this cover and I figured it was in part an image of how I feel. Iron Man can beat Angel any day. But here, it looks like The X-Men's Angel is winning. The Invincible Iron Man is in a free fall. A lot of folks at work are on pins and needles this week; many of them feeling vulnerable like Iron Man. We are due for a 1000 count layoff by the end of the week. Everyone keeps asking me what I think will happen, who's going to get cut, when do I think Thor's hammer will fall. As if I'm some Madame Web of the company. It just ain't so. I hear all the gossip that everyone else hears. And some of it I do keep to myself if it's a bit askew of the trend.

I'm wishing everyone powered-up layoff repulsor rays. And if not that, then I pray you have an Angel in the air to catch you.

Shana-Lexa

My friend Shana created her own Superhero and she named it Lexa and then emailed it to me. She is not a blogger, so I told her that I would post it for her. Many of you have taken a shine to creating your own Hero. And I am glad - 'cause it's been a difficult week and I need some giggles and fun.

I ended my work day stressed over a delay in getting a big case completed, waiting on final approval - after that person said they'd get to it "next" a couple of times that day. And I apparently was LAST. But at least I got to see THAT person at the end of the day. And my work week ended on an up-beat. *wink* hee hee.

Just got done helping a friend move (note: I got in at midnight) from a 'not so great home environment' to a well deserved refreshing new start. I wish her and her oh-so-adorable daughter well!

I had kept a fair amount of my friend's belongings at my house. I got to move them to her place all by my lonesome. But there was youthful assistance when I got to the new place. Which was much appreciated. I think my legs are going to be screaming at me in the morning.

Time to kick back and relax a bit then head to bed. Yeah, and a shower would hurt beforehand, I wreak!

Hero

I decided to call my Marvel creation Lesson. Once it was completed, I thought maybe I should have called him Whoop-Ass! I had a particular person in mind when I was making him. Oh well, I figure he can smack down a *learn'in* either way.

Carnage

The Resident Evil Within Me

I finally got tired of feeling run down. I've been sick since early April with only a few good days. And my friend Lisa, a nurse, ordered me to call my doctor.

I called for an appointment and saw him today at 12:15pm. I was there until 2:00pm getting the full doctor work over. *wish that were the case* But, in the end, I'm still a very sick person. Wow, that was two double entendre's there, did you catch them?

After work, I was sent to a local hospital for further testing. The end result is that the demon inside me is pneumonia. The functional kind, referred to as walking pneumonia. Fun stuff, but I'm also a bit more advanced in the sickness and have been given some serious drugs to kill it. Here's to me getting healthier and not being such a "dude" about going to the doctor.

Iron Man

I'm not a movie critic - Just go see Iron Man!

I had my doubts when Robert Downey, Jr. was cast for the role. He just didn't come off as "hero" material to me. Nice to look at maybe, but no hero. But, I got to thinking that he probably was a decent choice because of his high profile bad-boy image. His acting in the movie is fluid. Gwyneth Paltrow's acting is commandingly comfortable; not meek as I had imagined. Not too much the fan of Terrence Howard, I actually did like him and found him believable. Now, Jeff Bridges, well he always comes across as Star Man to me in whatever he plays. That lower lip quivering thing he does is annoyingly distracting. Stan Lee's cameo was hilarious and caught me off guard.

The movie kept me interested at all times. While I did see right through one effort of the movie, I still kept looking for flaws or inconsistencies and creative license. The Iron Man suit was wonderfully designed and flows like real body movement. I had thought it was going to look clunky, sort of like how the first Hulk movie appeared to resemble digitized clay-mation. But this movie very much came ALIVE.
